Trend Detection in Annual Streamflow Extremes in Brazil

چکیده
Changes in streamflow extremes can affect the economy and are likely to impact most vulnerable society. Estimating these changes is crucial develop rational adaptation strategies protect Streamflow data from 1106 gauges were used provide a comprehensive analysis of change eight different extreme indices. The modified trend-free prewhitening false discovery rate account for serial correlation multiplicity regional analysis, issues shown here distort results if not properly addressed. estimated proportion with significant trends low high flows was about 23% 15%, respectively. Half had more than 60 years associated greater 5% per decade. A clear spatial pattern identified, where increasing both observed Southern Brazil, decreasing remaining regions, except Amazon, clear, low. Results based only on unaffected by reservoirs suggest that alone do explain southern regions nor hydrographic regions.

Trend Analysis of Streamflow Drought Events in Nebraska
A streamflow drought event, defined by applying the threshold level approach on streamflow time series, is composed of three parameters: duration, severity and magnitude. This study reveals statistical characteristics on streamflow drought event parameters and detects spatial and temporal trends in the streamflow drought in terms of frequency, duration and severity in Nebraska. The studies are ...
متن کاملStreamflow response to increasing precipitation extremes altered by forest management
Increases in extreme precipitation events of floods and droughts are expected to occur worldwide. The increase in extreme events will result in changes in streamflow that are expected to affect water availability for human consumption and aquatic ecosystem function. We present an analysis that may greatly improve current streamflow models by quantifying the impact of the interaction between for...
متن کاملTrend Analysis of the Streamflow in the Lighvan River hydrometric Stations (Upstream and Downstream)
In recent years, rivers flows have significantly decreased due to regional or global climate change and human activities especially in the arid and semi-arid regions. In this study, the effect of climate change and human activities on the runoff responses was examined using hydrologic model simulation in the Lighvan basin located in the northwest of Iran. For determination of hydrologic model M...
متن کاملSpatial grouping of annual streamflow patterns in Turkey
This paper describes a procedure grouping streamflow patterns across Turkey that exhibit similar annual flow behaviors. Streamflow information is the integrated response of the river basin, such as topography, soil and vegetation to external impacts such as climate. A regionalization of annual data is carried out using k-means analysis. Streamflow series from 80 gauging stations were chosen to ...
متن کاملSpatial scaling properties of annual streamflow in the United States
The spatial scaling properties of annual average streamflow is examined using records from 1 433 river basins across the continental United States. The log-linear relationship ln(E[Q']) = a + brln(A) is representative throughout the United States, where E[Q:] represents the expectation of the rth moment of annual streamflow at site i, and Â, represents drainage area. The scaling model parameter...
